About Us

We are Dave, Jennie, Molly (10), Elsie (5) and Rory (3). We have always loved to travel and make the most of our holidays. In September 2019, we take our travel one step further, as we embark on a 10 month trip around the World. We’ve quit our jobs, signed up for home schooling and packed our possessions in a storage container in Berlin.

Yosemite, California (April 2019) : Where Jennie and Dave cemented plans for a year of travel.

We are originally from the UK, although for the past 6 years we have lived in Stockholm and Berlin. Molly was born in the UK, but Elsie and Rory have only ever known living in continental Europe. And no matter where we travel, perhaps a little bit of Sweden will always remain with the children’s incredibly blonde hair.

Prior to children we travelled a lot, and since their arrival we’ve been fortunate enough to continue exploring. We’ve enjoyed weekends discovering all corners of Scandinavia and Germany; taken advantage of European low cost airlines for regular city breaks and had memorable longer holidays experiencing the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Caribbean, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Early in 2019, after 2 years living in Germany our landlord announced he was returning. Faced with the prospect of finding another rental, and in the knowledge that Molly would be secondary school age in 2020, we took this as a trigger for Our Big Family Adventure.

Jennie is a trained primary school teacher and Dave has most recently worked for the BBC, Spotify and Omio (formerly GoEuro). With hectic work lives, like many couples, we haven’t spent a huge amount of quality time together. Indeed after 20 years working, we are perhaps going to cram a normal lifetime of conversation into the next year.

As for our children, pictures can be deceptive, and the photo above is no different. You can’t hear their noise, you can’t see them running around, you can’t see the typical insubordination…we love our children, but our children can be a handful! So while we are super excited to travel with 3 children, we are equally apprehensive.

We look forward to sharing our experiences of travelling and schooling.
